Class Descriptions
Vinyasa - All levels vinyasa, linking breath and movement with intelligent and creative sequencing. Expand your practice, building strength, grace, flexibility, and overall well-being.
Yin - Yin yoga is made up of long holds, slow movements, and a deep dive inward. You will find a strong focus on the breath. This quiet and meditative practice is an opportunity to nurture your body as well as your mind. Appropriate for students of all levels.
Sound Healing - Relax and restore in this Sound Bath experience, where you’ll be guided into deep rest through the healing vibrations of crystal singing bowls, and in some sessions, gongs and other soothing instruments are introduced. Simply lie down comfortably, get cozy with blankets, and let the sound wash over you. No experience needed, just come ready to rest.
Book Club - This is a discussion group that explores all aspects of yoga theory, philosophy, social issues and so much more. Topics change weekly and guest teachers are brought in for special topics as well. This donation only class supports the Yoga Journey Teacher Training Scholarship Fund.
Functional Flow - Experience yoga through the lens of physical therapy and functional movement. Blending mindful breath, intelligent movement, and modern biomechanics, this all-levels class builds strength, stability, mobility, and sustainable movement patterns for everyday life.
Gentle Flow - A slower-paced, all-levels class that blends mindful breath with gentle, flowing movement to improve mobility, build strength, and release tension. With supportive props and plenty of modifications, this welcoming practice encourages you to move with ease, reconnect with your body, and leave feeling refreshed and balanced.
Gentle Yin - A calming, all-levels practice that blends gentle movement with Yin. Expect a combination of mindful stretching, occasional standing and balance work, and longer-held, supported postures designed to improve mobility, flexibility, and relaxation. With the use of props and plenty of modifications, this class offers a nurturing space to move with intention and leave feeling refreshed.
Katonah Yoga® Inspired Flow - Inspired by the methodology of Katonah Yoga, this class blends together classical yoga with principles of Taoist philosophy, sacred geometry, and the use of metaphor and imagination to refine your physical practice and expand your awareness in the body and the mind. Expect use of props, breathwork, exploration of shapes and patterns, and a dialogue that keeps you invested in each pose.
Mat Pilates - A mindful, full-body Mat Pilates class taught through the lens of yoga. Build core strength, improve stability and mobility, and move with greater ease using a variety of props including the ring, ball, bands, and barre. All levels welcome.
Meditation - Join the Yoga Journey Meditation Team for a Mid-Day Meditation. Each member of the team has something really special to offer. Come and experience the benefits of a consistent meditation practice. No experience necessary.
