Uplifting our Community Through Collaboration

As many of you know I am always stressing the importance of the quality of teaching that is happening in the yoga community, and not just in our sunny corner of the world but globally. One of my missions is to elevate the level of education in Teacher Trainings and in Continuing Education. One of the steps in fulfilling that mission has been to sit on the Standards Committee with Yoga Alliance. I have spent the past several months working with them on their Standards Review Board and this week was the final conference call. I am excited to see the changes that will be implemented and how that trickles out into the yoga world. The invitation to be part of that process was a huge honor and I’m feeling confident that those seeking more knowledge in yoga are going to be thrilled in how this project raises the standards on the overall education for teachers. I feel strongly that we need to catch up with the tremendous growth we have seen in the industry. There are many schools and teachers out there that are not qualified and are not delivering at the level that the students deserve, and the students are why we are here, they are the reason we became teachers and we should want better for them. I love that demand for training is high but the quality needs to be even higher. The students attending the future classes of these teachers need to be safe and the traditions of yoga must be respected as we continue to pass it along. I feel proud to be part of the solution for higher standards and I am ready to raise the bar.

With the quality of education as one of my priorities, I have set out to share my teachings on a broader scale by partnering with some incredible teachers and collaborating on some amazing projects. The first one will begin in October. It is an online mentoring program for teachers that was created by my dear friend and fellow teacher Katie Brauer. She was a special part of our South Florida community before she moved to California and has been doing big things there ever since. This program is designed to elevate the level of success for teachers that are talented and working hard but struggling to make a living. It is a six-month online course that will further advance each participant as individuals and as teachers. I will be teaching two master classes as part of the program. All the details can be found at Yoga Professional Incubator. Check it out if you want to increase your level of success as a teacher. My second project will be a guest appearance in a +300 Advanced Yoga Teacher Training hosted by Kula Yoga Shala in Jupiter Florida. The owner, Scott Feinberg and I are cut from the same cloth. Some say we are the yin and yang with the same core values but very different areas of focus in our teaching. This program is a collaboration of teachers from South Florida and from around the country. Each of us bringing in what we specialize in and what lights us up as teachers. I was thrilled to be invited to teach a portion of this training and to be part of the faculty. The program will begin in 2019 click here to see all the details each segment can be done as a workshop that can be taken separately or you can do the entire program.

I will be rolling out a new format for my own mentoring program in 2019 as well. My last one was in 2017 and I am ready and really excited to step back into mentoring teachers again. I will share this new curriculum and methodology with a small and intimate group. I believe in true mentoring, doing work one on one with each participant as well as group learning. I am ready to take a handful of teachers under my wing and then release them and let them fly on their own. Registration will open soon so stay tuned....

This is important work and it will trickle out into every aspect of the yoga community locally, nationally and globally. Everyone that comes to the mat deserves an authentic experience with an authentic and qualified teacher. I am working hard to make sure that we maintain the highest levels of integrity possible in our industry so that "Through promoting the practice of yoga, we elevate the community and through community we elevate the world!"
