We are about to embark on a Journey…

Starting in November we will begin a new topic of discussion in our weekly Lunch and Learn gatherings. We meet every Friday at 1:15 for one hour of heartfelt conversation. For over 6 years we have covered The Chakras, The Sutras, The Bhagavad Gita, Insight Meditation, Myths of the Asanas, Living Your Yoga, Wisdom of the Ages, the Four Agreements and so much more. We are about to circle back to the Gita for the second time for a deep dive into yoga philosophy. The timing couldn’t be better, and I invite you to jump in when you can. If you are interested in subjects like Dharma, Karma, Self-Realization, Selfless Service, Grace, Presence, Wisdom, Love, Faith, Freedom, Reason, Logic or Ethics you should consider joining us for one or all of the sessions. We will begin with an overview of the story and then delve into each of the 18 chapters. Each week we will pull out one topic to discuss. Each topic truly stands alone but still has relevance in the overall story.

The Bhagavad Gita is one of India’s greatest gifts to the world. It has been studied, interpreted and shared for thousands of years and is still relevant to humanity today. It tells the story of how a great warrior, is about to engage in battle, when he sees his own men, family members, friends and his revered teacher ready to battle against him. He feels that he cannot fight even though it is what he has been trained to do and what he knows is right. He is faced with an inner battle and seeks counsel. The warrior represents the human soul and Krishna is the inner Spirit, who is there to give him guidance. We will journey through his battle together and learn the lessons that we can apply to every day life.

Today we see humanity divided against itself and it is creating inner turmoil for almost everyone I know. Each of us have been digging our heels in, standing strong in what we believe in and taking sides. We find ourselves at odds with many whom we care about, family members, friends, and coworkers. We may not be on a literal battlefield, but many are fighting a war within themselves daily. There are days when we find ourselves deciding whether to fight or to retreat…No political party is adequate to deal with this problem. The answers we need are not going to come from the outside. It is going to take a spiritual journey for us to heal as individuals and for humanity to heal as well. It is what makes the message of the Gita so important right now! It comes to teach us that it is only when we rise above human schemes and manipulation and awaken ourselves to be in relationship with our spirit that we can hope to find the answers we need to navigate the world today. The big question in the story remains…do we step forward and fight? What is the right action?

Come join the conversation and decide for yourself. Take a good look at the meaning of Dharma (purpose) and Karma (action). No experience necessary just a desire to grow, learn and connect with the community. This is a donation class and 100% of the money collected goes to support tuition for those wanting to participate in teacher training but cannot afford to. Our learning supports and elevates someone else’s learning, so they can then go out into the world and inspire their communities.
